Tangled comparisons - concept art to the final film.
why the fuck is the concept art so much better
I think their original intention was to make it look like a living painting. :/ But when The Princess and the Frog didn’t make as much money as they wanted, they decided to make it 3D. it’s a real shame.
I WANT ANIMATION AND SKILLED ART TECHNIQUES. (Not that computer animation doesn’t require technique.) BUT COME ON.
The final product is beautiful, and must’ve taken a long time to do, but the concept art is so much more unique, and fitting to the story. :/
Here’s the thing. Concept art is exactly that: conceptual ART. Of course it has the ability to be so much more beautiful than the final product; you’re spending a couple days or weeks painting a handful of single frames, rather than trying to produce 90 minutes of film at 24 frames per second. Think about that for a moment. 24 frames per second * 60 seconds per minute * 90 minutes = 129,600 frames. Each of those concept paintings could easily take an artist hours if not days to complete. Now imagine doing that 129,600 times. It’s simply not possible.
